feedback from states and union territories on school reopening. Schools to
reopen in August or September or October?
The Union education ministry has asked states and
union territories for parent's feedback on a likely period when they will be
comfortable with reopening of schools. The education secretaries of all states
and union territories have been asked to revert with the feedback by July 20
i.e. by today.
A circular sent by the Department of School
Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), has also
asked for parent’s expectations from schools as and when they reopen.
Feedback asked on following points for reopening
of schools:
· What
is the likely period when they will be comfortable with reopening of schools
—August / September / October 2020
· What
are the parents’ expectations from Schools — when they reopen?
· Any
other feedback/remarks in this regard,” the circular from the HRD ministry
said.
Also, the HRD Minister Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal in
a June 3 interview revealed that schools and colleges which have remained
closed since around March 16 will reopen after August 2020. However, after
looking at the current situation, it seems that the decision to reopen schools
after August will be heard again. Chances of school reopening might get
forwarded to October.
Around 33 crore students have been waiting for
school reopening news to dispel their doubts.
